Miata Timing Belt

This section is on hold and not complete. I’m waiting till spring to do pictures to finish this.

First thing that to me is the most important thing. Miata’s use a non interference engine. What this means if the timing belt breaks it doesn’t hurt anything. Yep that’s right it just leaves you stranded but no motor damage occurs. I personally HATE timing belts and would love to get my hands on the moron that invented them. Timing chains rock and timing belts suck. But I give cars with non interference engines a free pass on hate since at least it doesn’t ruin the motor if the belt breaks.

Ok with that out of the way lets get to the actual belt and changing it.

The belt should be changed every 60,000 miles. Also plan on changing the water pump too. You’ll be right there and its so much easier to do it while doing the belt.
