6 1/2″ (6.5) Door speaker install
Well I got my JL Audio 6.5’s in and figured this might help someone else in the future as I found NOTHING out there showing how to do it other than where some like agent86 had made custom adapters.
This is using simple plates to install. So it might help someone when going from bose to normal speakers.
Well heres what I started with :
Next the very dirty but stock bose grill, nothing scary yet :
Wonderful mod the previous owner had done. Notice the custom wood work on his spacers putting autozone or something speakers into the factory bose boxes. Woofer didn’t even move either when pushed on. :
Factory door hole after bose box is removed :
This shows what I had to grind off to get the speaker in. I did this method to insure that the woofer wouldn’t hit the door when its playing. :
Speaker mounted in plate and then the plate bolted to the door itself. :
Factory grill back in place :
I’ve still got tons of white powder from the door grindings to clean up and cleaning the door panels and the grills, etc but so far it looks factory and hits very hard.
Dremel tool went through the door material like a hot knife through butter. Perfect tool for that job for sure.
These are the speakers JL Audio speakers I used :
